WA Asbestos Worker Training
Washington State approved and EPA AHERA accredited training for workers handling asbestos-containing materials during abatement projects. Approved for school work in states that do not have their own Asbestos Worker Training Program (not approved for Montana, Oregon, or Alaska). Both initial certification and annual refresher courses available.
WA Asbestos Worker Basic
This 32-hour (4-day) course is approved by the State of Washington and by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for work in schools, meeting the requirements of the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). The course includes a mock abatement project in which students hang plastic, set up a negative air system, construct a decontamination unit, and learn how to safely remove debris and execute cleanup tasks. A comprehensive exam is given on the last day of the course and a Certificate of Completion is awarded to each student upon successful completion.

Workers who will be handling, removing, or encapsulating asbestos-containing materials during abatement projects in Washington State. Required for WA State Asbestos Worker certification. This course is also approved for school work in other states that do not have their own Asbestos Worker Training Program.

Prerequisites
No prior asbestos training required. Must be able to wear a respirator and pass a fit test.
State Approval Notice
This course is approved for school work in states that do not have their own Asbestos Worker Training Program. However, it is NOT approved for Montana, Oregon, or Alaska, as these states have their own state-approved training programs.

WA Asbestos Worker Refresher
This one-day (8-hour) class satisfies Washington State and AHERA regulations pertaining to Annual Worker Certification Renewal. Handout Materials are provided and a Certificate of Completion is awarded to each student upon successful completion. The $45.00 WA State Asbestos Worker Recertification Fee is included in the tuition.
Prerequisites
Required: Washington State Asbestos Worker Basic Certification or other current State or Federal Asbestos Worker Training Certification.
Important Recertification Notice
Late Renewal: If recertification is overdue, the State of Washington requires a $50.00 late fee for renewal.
Overdue > 1 Day: Workers whose recertification is more than one day overdue must take and pass a Washington State Department of Labor and Industries Exam.
Overdue > 6 Months: Workers whose certifications are more than 6 months overdue must retake the Basic Worker Course.
